My 217th Platinum, Death Stranding (took roughly 150h).
This is an interesting one.
I’m a fan of Kojima from previous games (Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill), so I was excited for Death Stranding but unfortunately there was alot of mixed opinions that made me hold of playing it.
Well, I wish I hadn’t of. It was spectacular!!! What a game!!!
Beautiful story, stunning graphics, I’m a fan of Norman Reedus, breathtaking views, interesting support characters and backstories and many more positive things to say, too many.
The story and ideas were original (I wonder how long Kojima had some of these for?). And the fact that some of the ideas were edgy and risky, like BB’s being used and disposed as tools. Just awesome…
Even tho it was a single player game I didn’t feel alone. Seeing other players tools, dropped cargo and safe houses made me feel connected and that we were all working towards the same goal. Reconnecting the people of America. Giving each other likes for being helpful, sharing resources and leaving signs with tips. I just loved it.
The combat was interesting too. It didn’t matter how geared you were, those BTs were terrifying. The fact you couldn’t see them most of the time until it was too late and trying to make sure BB didn’t get autotoxemia, otherwise you were shit outta luck and you had no help in detecting BTs. It was just nerve wrecking.
Another thing that caught me off guard that really grew on me was watching all the structures that I built to help me navigate the rough terrain (like roads and ziplines) while delivering cargo, rust and slowly become unusable. It just felt so natural and unnatural at the same time and became a race against time(fall) 😀
One thing I detested though, was trying to drive off road. The truck and bike physics just felt SHIT!!! Didn’t feel right at all, the truck would just turn the opposite way when trying to go up a hill and shit like that. But that is my only gripe with this game.
Difficulty rating, a 3/10, the game wasn’t hard at all even on the hardest settings. Abit of preparation and redirection and you could overcome any challenge include Legends of Legends of Legends
Fun rating, a 9/10. I just absolutely loved it. Every hour I spent playing it.
So anybody who reads this, don’t site on the fence with this one. Get it started!!!
