Final Fantasy VII has one of the most memorable casts of characters in any game. For many players, this will be their first introduction to this diverse crew and the developer wanted to make sure that even minor characters were fully fleshed out in their own right.
Due to technical constraints, much of the world in the original Final Fantasy VII was implied. When you left an area, for example, the screen would cut to black and you’d re-emerge somewhere else, giving the impression of travel.
One of the goals of Final Fantasy VII Remake was to fully realize this iconic city. Now areas connect more organically, and they’ve been expanded with immense levels of detail. For new players it would feel like a living, breathing world, while fans of the original would get to see both new areas and familiar locations like never before.
The original used the series’ famous Active Time Battle (ATB) system – turn-based, but with time-based elements that made the flow of combat dynamic and strategic.
Modern gamers expect choice and, for Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix wanted to give it to them. While the combat system retains the classic feel, it also incorporates more-immediate real-time action, with a lot of options to vary your play.
My 220th Platinum, Final Fantasy VII Remake (took roughly 25h since it was an autopop and then I did the dlc).
Not going to say much here since it was an autopop of the PS4 run I did.
What I will say is I still fucking love this game!!!
I love the characters, I love the new modernized maps, I love the new remastered enemies and mini bosses, I love the upgraded music, I love the new NPC backgrounds, I love Sephiroth, I love Jesse, I love Tifa, I love Aerith, I love the eyes and I love Tifa again 😀
I know people are not keen on the change in the story but I like how they have honored the original game while offering something new.
With the next gen graphics you see a lot deeper into the characters through their facial expressions, actions and their stunning eyes (no joke, Square Enix did some next level shit with those eyes). Even Sephiroth looks a lot more sinister and powerful than he ever did.
I really cant wait for part 2…
The DLC I enjoyed but…
Yuffie speaking is soooo goddamn annoying and cringe but that is how she is suppose to be. Maybe I’m just getting too old for loud mouthed teens? hahah
Also another thing I didn’t like was the integration of the DLC. I would have rathered stumbling upon Yuffie and finding the DLC that way than pressing R2 or R1 on the main menu and starting it like a new game. It just feels a little disconnected.
I loved the new additions to the battle arena. They were solid hard.
Difficulty rating, a 7/10, the game or DLC wasn’t hard as such but the added battle arena encounters were pretty up there. Weiss in my eyes was harder than anything in the main game.
Fun rating, a 7/10. Would have rated it higher if Yuffie was muzzled.
